Jpr1The Jal Mahal Palace is known for its erudite design and intricate architecture. It was used for the royal duck shooting parties. It is built in the 18th century by Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799 AD in the midst of the Man Sagar Lake as a pleasure spot.

The Jal Mahal Palace means Water Palace is situated in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur which is the capital of the state of Rajasthan, India. It is located on the road to Amber at a distance of 6.5 kms from Jaipur.

This Water Palace
built it inside water and has the Nahargarh hills forming its backdrop.
The first four floors of this building are under water and only the top floor of it remains outside. Surrounded by Nahargarh Hills on all sides, the Jal Mahal palace was once used for regal duck shooting parties.

This palace is abandoned now but it is well preserved. So, you can have a wonderful view of the lake as well as the palace from Nahargarh Fort. By constructing a dam between the two hills, the Lake was formed by Sawai Man Singh I. In winter seasons you can see large number of migratory birds at the lake. During the rainy season, it looks startling with its red sandstone set against the water hyacinth filled lake. Once the reservoir became full during this season, it got covered with Hyacinth. Only the red stoned palace became approachable by boat during this season and through a causeway and presented a spectacle on the way to Jaipur city from Delhi.

So, you can visit this Jal Mahal Palace between October and March.
