Wildlife tours in India

The diversified climate, rich flora and fauna and abundance of thick forests in India have always made this country the home for innumerable wild animals and birds. India has therefore attracted tourists from all over the world for centuries to come and visit the remarkable wildlife through fascinating wildlife tours.

The Indian government has also supported the wildlife tours in India by building sanctuaries and national parks for these animals, where tourists can come and experience an unforgettable adventure of seeing various wild animals together at one place, that too from a very close proximity. Not only does wildlife tours in India promote the Indian travel and tourism industry, it brings in revenues and the most important point is that various wild animals and birds get shelter and especially endangered species are saved from poachers.

It can also be a lifetime experience for you to see majestic tigers prowling around, huge elephants trampling their way through the jungles, or you can even come face to face with a big rhino or wild hyena or experience the thrill of catching a wild lion live in your video cam. Some of the most famous national parks in India that have housed various different species of birds and animals are:

The Jim Corbett National Park : Situated in the foothills of the Himalayas, this famous national park was developed by Late Jim Corbett in 1936. The Project Tiger scheme was launched here with a view to save tigers from extinction, but now provides shelter to almost 50 mammal species, 580 bird species, 25 reptile species and around 110 tree species.

Ranthambore National Park : Situated in Eastern Rajasthan in between the Aravali and Vindhya mountain ranges, this national park is a paradise for animal lovers. It has the largest and most diverse collection of animal species of India.

The Sundarban National Park : This is perhaps one of the most unique national parks situated in West Bengal, since it is the world’s largest delta formed by the river Ganges and the Brahmaputra. This is the house of the great Royal Bengal tiger, and it is really a treat to watch this ferocious animal walking around like  a king.

The Kaziranga National Park : Situated in Assam, this is the home of one of the most endangered species, the one-horned rhino. Here you can also see deers, leopards, otters, tigers, rock python etc.

Periyar National Park : This is a famous tiger reserve in Kerala, which is under Project Tiger. But you can also spot leopards, barking deer, wild boar, sloth bear, and almost 260 species of birds.
